I HATE YOU MORE THAN VINCE RUSSO, JJ ABRAMS.  AND I DON’T SAY THAT LIGHTLY.

yeah. that is what I don’t get. if you don’t like something, either (a) learn to like it enough to conceal that fact and try your damndest to act in the spirit of the story or (b) CHOOSE ANOTHER PROJECT YOU ASSHAT

It’s the height of arrogance is what it is.  Star Trek has endured for decades because of all that “too philosophical” stuff he doesn’t like.  I just don’t understand why CBS or Paramount or whoever it was who made the decision gave the franchise to someone who actually DISLIKED it.  

This whole thing is so fucking disrespectful to an important cultural institution and it’s really fucking upsetting.  I’m sure people will act like it’s just a movie and it’s not a big deal, but Star Trek has ALWAYS been a big deal to the people who truly love it and this is such a fucking insult.

The part that I find the most troubling is the fact that Abrams is so proud of the whole thing… as if ethics are something that should be staunchly prohibited from media? Like he did everybody a favor by taking the soul of the franchise out and making it all a ~generic adventure~ or whatever?

What does he think, that we’re so advanced and great now that there’s no need for ethical/philosophical reflection? Or that media should serve the status quo of power?

Does he actually imagine it’s possible to make a story with a neutral message?
